Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Application Development for Large Municipality's Emergency Management Office
Project Description
The city's emergency management office requires development of a web-based application and data portal to allow the decision makers access to critical building data and floor plan data during daily dispatch operations. SDI has teamed with ESRI to provide this critical service.
Goals
The goal of this project is to develop a building-level GIS intranet application available within the Computer-Aided Dispatch Center and Joint Operations Center. The city has identified major tools that this GIS intranet application must include:
- Zoom to building through a building menu selection
- View floor plan information through a floor plan menu selection
- Building-level information reports
- Evacuation plans
- Hyperlink from ArcScene data to ArcIMS for viewing floor plans
- Audit trail with ability to track user access to data, processing, and printing
Solution/Services
- Conduct needs assessment of hardware and related systems
- Develop Application Functional Requirements
- Conduct network analysis
- Develop an Application System Design Document
- Develop a Network System Configuration Diagram
- Identify and document what servers will be used for application deployment
- Identify and document the software components that are required (i.e. operating system, database management system, web server, servlet engine, etc.)
- Application development
